چکیده
Calix (4) pyrroles are macromolecules structurally related to porphyrins, they exhibit exceptional chemical and physical properties that have suggested a vast number of potential applications in host-guest chemistry. In recent years, calix (4) pyrroles have attracted a lot of attention because of their properties as binders of anions, transition metals, and neutral substrates and their new applications as anion sensors in both the optical and electrochemical realms. Calix (4) pyrroles have also been found to be biologically active species. Many researchers have synthesized functionalized and deep cavity, N-confused, extended cavity and higher order/expanded calix (4) pyrroles. They exhibit ever-increasing affinities and selectivities in chemical reactions. Generally, meso –calix (4) pyrroles have been prepared by the acid-catalyzed (homogeneous catalysis) condensation of pyrrole and suitably substituted ketone. Calix (4) pyrroles are characterized by infrared (IR), nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy, X-Ray and mass spectrometry. Mass spectrometry is known to be a sensitive technique and is used not only to confirm the molecular weight, but also to assign the structure. There are only a few reports on the use of EI for molecular weight determination of extended calix pyrroles and large furan-based calixpyrroles. Recently, Prabhakar et al. reported detailed mass spectral studies to characterize meso-alkyl and mesocycloalkyl calix (4) pyrroles under EI conditions. The calix (4) pyrroles have been characterized by soft ionization techniques such as chemical ionization, fast atom bombardment, electrospray ionization and matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization to determine the molecular weight of the compound. However, to the best of our knowledge there are no reports of detailed mass spectral studies with the use of soft ionization techniques to characterize calix (4) pyrroles towards structure elucidation. This prompted us to study the ESI mass spectral behavior of meso-calix (4) pyrroles and differentiation of some of the calix (4) pyrrole isomers.

Effects of Receiving Corrective Feedback through Online Chats and Class Discussions on Iranian EFL Learners' Writing Quality
Giving corrective feedback (CF) is an essential part of the teaching and learning process, and the way it should beneficially be done has been the focus of attention for numerous researchers especially when traditional ways of CF provision are not possible, particularly in rare situations such as outbreaks of diseases. This study investigated how different ways of giving feedback; namely, throu...
متن کاملA Comparative Study of Generic Structure of Applied Linguistics and Chemistry Research Articles: The Case of Discussions
This genre-based study investigated the cross-disciplinary variations in the rhetorical structure of the Discussion sections of 104 applied linguistics and chemistry research articles (RAs), drawing upon Basturkmen’s (2009, 2012) framework and taking into account the new insights proposed by Bhatia (2004), Shehzad (2008), and Lim (2012). To this end, in addition to collecting quantitative data ...
متن کاملDesirability of two participatory methods of teaching, based on students' view point
Introduction: Teaching comes true at the presence of learner and learning. Teaching is not only transfer of information but also, it is an interaction between learner and teacher. Thus learner participation in teaching- learning process can be important and effective in learning. This study was performed to survey the effect of learner participation in teaching. Methods: This semi-experim...

متن کاملNative and Non-Native Teachers’ Changing Beliefs about Teaching English as an International Language
In view of the paucity of evidence on teachers’ conceptions of teaching English an International Language (EIL), the present study used panel discussions to investigate the beliefs of 10 native and 10 non-native English-speaking teachers about their roles in teaching English in the EIL contexts and the perceptions of EIL. The findings revealed that some aspects of teachers’ beliefs about their ...
